The Proverbial Bootstraps!
We often use the term “picking your self up by the boot straps”. But what does that really mean?
According to one dictionary it means “to get (oneself or something) into or out of a situation using existing resources, like ”the company is bootstrapping itself out of a marred financial past”.
In the case of many of the people we have been interviewing it also means taking what you have learned all your working life and NOW making it work for you!
I can only truly say from my own experiences. I have been a Graphic Designer for just about 40 years. When Beth and I started talking about the Two Grannies on the Road we were basically taking our past experiences and “twisting” them into something different. Oh I am still a graphic designer. I still create logos and booklets and collateral pieces for companies. But I am combining that with interviewing Baby Boomers and hearing their stories of how their bootstraps are fitting right now.
Are you ready to see if pulling on those bootstraps could change your life? Are you willing to try? It can be scary. It can be jaw dropping. But it also can be exhilarating and heart pounding (in a good way) and a great way to achieve self confidence!
Remember that old television ad that stated “Try it. You’ll like it!” Nobody is saying you need to give up everything to start. Do what you love part time. Maybe by the end of the day you will find yourself wanting it full time.
Just saying’!
