On the “Tree Trail”!
Can’t Forget the Grandkids!
This past weekend I took my two grandsons to the Adventure Park in Sandwich, MA to do the High Ropes courses. Saturday’s weather was wonderful. Cool and crisp. Sunny and bright, the trees were a wonderful blend of oranges, reds and yellows with a few dark green pines added in for contrast.
As we have spoken before this park is a way to prove your personal attempts at agility and stamina. I was able to go through a Green level which is about 20 feet high but the two buys did a green and the blue which is about 30 feet high. These trails go from yellow to green to blue to black . . . each one going up in intensity and height. Somewhat like how ski trails are designated. The yellow trail is 10 feet in the trees. The two green trails are about 25 feet. The blue is maybe 30 feet and the black is 40 feet. And each trail has from one to five or six zip lines which average from 65-110 feet in length depending on the course difficulty. The only course that does not have a zip line is Black Storm, the most advanced aerial course.
It really is fun even when you screw up and fall into the mulch or something dumb like that. Of course, I personally wouldn’t know but . . . Well, the boys were already planning a trip there again before the park closes for the winter
I don’t often get to try truly fun things with my two grandsons because they are both becoming teenagers and they do not live very close to me. So to see the two of them having such a good time meant the world to me. In fact Liam wasn’t really sure he wanted to do this because he is afraid of heights (or, I should say, he USED to be afraid of heights). Coltrane was probably a bit of inspiration since he had at least done a zip line before. As cousins they get along so well. They have been best friends since they were babies and I hope it stays that way well into their adulthood.
I neglected to state that my son, Patrick, went on the trails with us as well. I am always amazed that he can be the biggest goof I have ever met. There he was 30 feet in the air and he is acting like a robot or a monkey or a clown. Actually, he is always a clown in one way or another.
So this was a weekend of kids and grandkids! What an absolute blast. And one of the main reasons we are . . . Two Grannies on the Road!
Ginny . . . The older, funner, adventurous granny
